The composition of this piece is very central but by having three subjects it works and brings your eye around the whole piece. Because the lava lamp is the tallest subject, moving the composition to the left could work just as well. Even though the lines are not straight, it stylizes the piece and the proportions of each object is accurate. There is a good balance of dark and light on the kettle, but it could be a bit darker near the bottom of the piece, especially near the bottom of the lava lamp. Cross-hatching and mark making is very distinct and clear. The marks go with the curves of the objects giving it dimension. There could be a few more hints of pink from the lava lamp reflected on the kettle and cup. The brown reflected in the kettle from the background works, but the background should be brought to the top of the paper. The piece as a whole works very well, especially the colour reflected in the kettle.
