When looking at this image my eye follows the dog backward in it’s transformation, mainly due to the eyes on the dog. The dog feels as it’s begging for attention (or maybe just the hotdog) which really draws my eye to it as well as it also being the darkest area of the piece. The perspective of the piece feels very funky for lack of better word. The leg of the table almost feels out of place with the angle of the table and the 3rd part of the transformation almost looks as if it is in a boat in the sea though I know that isn’t the case. The 4th part’s shadow still seems a bit to perfectly circle to be a shadow along with the background feels very empty. There is a lot of great detail here and a lot of proportions looking very correct in relation to the area around it except that table leg.
Bryanna/Gouda
My eye is most drawn to the dachshund off centre on the page due to it having the highest contrast of the piece. There’s a surreal quality to your transformation from hotdog to dog in the way each part of the sequence is placed on the canvas. Your skill for realism really shines in making this piece work all the way through, I believe what I’m seeing whole heartedly. The toppings flying off also added some extra flair and visual intrigue for the eye to follow. I felt like there was a balance between places where my eye could rest and the story this is telling. The only parts that I would have liked to see differently would be the table leg? (Or stump?) it feels more two dimensional compared to the rest of the figures and I would have loved to see the perspective in comparison pushed even if it meant the other subjects didn’t necessarily match up. And more darkness in the other subjects to build on the contrast you demonstrate with the main dog. Otherwise this is a super fun piece.
